About the Teacher

I was born in Vancouver, but was raised in a very small town (smaller than the student body of Gaiser) north of Mt. St. Helens called Glenoma. I graduated from White Pass High School in 1991, and went on to Central Washington University in Ellensburg to become a teacher. My personal philosophy as a teacher is that holding high expectations for students challenges them to rise to those expectations.

I graduated from CWU in 1996 with degrees in French and Spanish and a teaching certificate. While at Central, I had the opportunity to participate in the William O. Douglas Honors College, which followed the Great Books program. We studied and discussed authors and texts from Homer and Plato to Einstein and Tolstoy, as well as the civilizations and historical background that went with the books.

I began teaching at Gaiser in January of 1997, and feel very fortunate to be in such a positive and supportive school. I am continually impressed with the staff and students at our school.

My daughter Jessica is in elementary school and is busy learning Spanish herself.  My hobbies include reading, music, movies, hiking, and spending time with my family.
