Questions about our Counseling Services

 

How is a student referred to the school counselor?

Students may be referred to the counselor by parents, teachers, administrators, or self-referral. Parents can contact counselors at any time to share academic or other concerns.

 

How does a student refer him/her self?

Fill out a green colored request form, located in the counseling center, and drop it in your counselors box  next to their office door. Forms are found in the counseling center. Your counselor will coordinate when you come down with your teacher. You must come with a pass from your teacher.

 

How do parents schedule student led conferences?

Upon request your students counselor will schedule a 7th or 8th grade student led conference. Please contact your 6th grade teacher to schedule a conference.

 

Are students required to participate in the program?

No student is required to participate in any guidance and counseling program to which the parents of that student object. Parents may choose to limit participation in any or all guidance and counseling services at any time with a letter to the school principal.

 

What are the credentials of the Counselors?

Minimum of a Master's degree from an approved college/university program in counseling and Washington State ESA certification.
