INSIDE GAISER Parent Information

Gaiser's Instructional Leadership Team and PTSA team up each year with the Gaiser staff to create a special day when parents are invited into the school. All agree that this opportunity to "peek into the classrooms of today" creates a positive dialogue with the young adults about Gaiser as well as deepens an understanding of the role of the classroom teacher. Inside Gaiser has become a model that other schools in the Vancouver School District now emulate.
The goal of "Inside Gaiser" is to allow parents a chance to peek into the classrooms and experience a typical day in middle school. We encourage you to use this opportunity for positive conversation with your child(ren) about this important part of their lives.

----- "Inside Gaiser" was developed five years ago through the collaborative efforts of our PTA, Parent Advisory Council and faculty. Gaiser was the first school to offer this innovative program in the Vancouver School District .
----- Students will react differently to the presence of parents in their school. Some will be receptive and welcoming, others may be anxious and uneasy.
----- Some of the teachers may choose to have an interactive relationship with the parents in their classrooms. Other teachers may choose to continue their classroom activities as if it was a regular day.
----- Parents are to be " silent observers " in every classroom. Please do not interact with your child or chat with other parents during class. Please silence your CELL phones.
----- This is not a time for a conference. Please, if you feel the need to talk with the teacher about an issue, call for an appointment at a later date.
----- Please try to be on time for each class you are observing, and wait until the end of each class period to exit.
----- Please Sign Out in the library if you leave the building during the day. (This will not be necessary if you stay the entire day and leave at the end of 7th period.)
----- Name tags must be worn while on school grounds.
