Good-Bye Modular Tech. Ed!

The Gaiser Modular Tech. Ed. program will be phased out at the end of the 2007-08 school year. I will no longer be teaching Tech. Ed. Instead, I will be moving into Mr. Newton's 8th grade Physical Science room for the 2008-09 school year. The Gateway To Technology program will occupy room 401 next fall. I do not know at this time who will be teaching that curriculum.

Teaching Tech. Ed. for the Vancouver School District for the last 16 years has been a wonderful experience for me, but it's time to move on to something new. I am looking forward to teaching new subjects that have always been of interest to me. I am also looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the fall; surely there will be many of my Tech. Ed. students from this year who will walk into my Physical Science class in the fall.

I did a little mental arithmetic after I officially accepted the new position. I helped students make over 1500 Deskjockeys and CO2 cars over the last 16 years! We easily built over 1000 balsa wood bridges in that time period. We did countless thousands of robot scripts and Mr. Circuit projects together! The squirrel feeders, bird houses, and bat houses are something we only started doing in the last couple of years, but they have been a lot of fun too. The Mag-Lev car, Air Powered Dragsters, and Mousetrap cars have been a lot of fun in the last couple of years too. AND THE CUSTOM PENS!!! I only introduced the custom pens this year; I really wish I had done it five years earlier. I have apprentice penmakers this year who will probably making them for years to come. All-in-all I will have some very fond memories of my years in the Tech. Ed. room.

Sincerely,

Mr. Paterek
