Now that you are finished with your PC-Draft tutorials, you will be required to design and print a design for a single story home. Don't forget that homes need windows, doors, bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, closets, stoves, and many other things. AND, remember, if you put in a staircase, it must appear in the same location on both floors. The same thing goes for a chimney/fireplace.

To start your required project, you will have to open the FILE menu and select NEW. When the sub menu pops out to the right, select DRAWING. This will open a new drawing document on your screen. |
Click and hold the LAYOUT menu. select Set Scale/Units, and let go of the mouse button. The Set Scale/Units window will appear. |

This is the Set Scale/Units window. In the middle of the window and slightly to the left, you will see the Default Scale which is set at 1" = 10'. Click and hold that scale to select a new scale. |
Choose 3/16" = 1' from the scale choices. This is the same scale as your HOUSE PLAN was and it will allow you to use the same symbols that appeared in your HOUSE PLAN. Click OK. |

You will now have to save your required project. The first SAVE is always like a SAVE-AS. Click the FILE menu and select SAVE. You will see the SAVE box open as shown above. Click the Save In dropdown menu and highlight the line that shows your student ID number. Let go of the mouse button. Now name the file PC-Draft Required Project.mdd. Let's name it PC-Draft project.mdd. Click the save button. Your project has been saved into your personal folder. |

To open the symbol library for your PCdraft project, select OPEN from the FILE menu as shown above. |
When the dialog box opens, click the Look in drop down menu as shown above. Slide the mouse down to highlight Shared on Gaiser and let go of the mouse button. Double click STUDENTS. Double click PC Draft tutorials. |
To make the Extra Credit Symbols library show up, click the Files of Type dropdown menu at the bottom of the dialog box and use the mouse to select All Files. Let go of the mouse button and you will see the Extended House Elements.dsy file. Double click it to open it. |

This is a symbol library that will allow you to put many of the symbols from your HOUSE PLAN into your PC-Draft project. If you need help with symbols, go to the PC-Draft on-line lesson plans. |
Now that you have a good start on your PC-Draft project, you may go on to the next lesson, which is Hints for Your PC-Draft Project. Just click the right red arrown below.
Or, you may shut down your computer for the day.To shut down, choose EXIT from the PC-Draft FILE menu. If you are prompted to SAVE any changes on your Required Project file, go ahead and click the SAVE button. Then Click the Windows START Menu in the lower corner of your screen and select SHUTDOWN. When the dialog box appears, select SHUTDOWN from the dropdown menu and click OK. This will log you off your computer and make sure it is ready for the next student who uses it.
